Archivist Terms of Service

Last updated: 24/08/2026

1. Agreement

These Terms govern use of Archivist#7962 (1218754126134120518), a Discord bot that provides configurable logging, archive, moderation audit, and Guild audit features. By adding, configuring, or using Archivist, you agree to these Terms and the Archivist Privacy Policy.

You must also comply with Discord's Terms, Community Guidelines, Developer Terms, Developer Policy, and all applicable law. If these Terms conflict with Discord's terms or policies, Discord's terms and policies control.

2. Definitions

  • Discord: The platform provided by Discord Inc.
  • User: Any person or account that interacts with Archivist or is in a Guild where Archivist operates.
  • Guild: The Discord community server in which Archivist is installed.
  • Guild Manager: A Guild Owner, administrator, or member with authority to add, configure, or manage Archivist.
  • Configured Logs: Event logs that Guild Managers enable and direct to selected Discord channels.

3. Guild Manager Responsibilities

Guild Managers are responsible for deciding whether Archivist is appropriate for their Guild, configuring only the logging they are authorized to use, choosing appropriate log channels, restricting access to log channels, and informing Guild Members where required by applicable law.

Guild Managers must not use Archivist to collect, monitor, disclose, or retain personal data in a way that violates law, Discord policies, or these Terms.

Guild Managers must give notices, obtain permissions or consent where required, limit access to selected log channels, and promptly act on lawful requests relating to logs they control. They must not enable logging where they lack authority to do so.

4. Logging Scope

Archivist logs configured Discord events only. It is not a general purpose surveillance tool. Supported logging categories include message edits/deletes/bulk deletes, reactions, member events, moderation events, Guild settings, roles, channels, threads, integrations, webhooks, AutoMod, voice state changes, emoji, stickers, and soundboard sounds.

Message creation events populate Archivist's temporary audit cache but are not posted as logs. If a message is later edited, deleted, or bulk deleted, Archivist uses cached state to produce that event's log only when the corresponding event is enabled by the Guild Manager.

Discord classifies Guild Members, Message Content, and Presence as privileged Gateway intents. Archivist requests Guild Members for configured member lifecycle, member profile, boost, screening, and invite attribution events. It requests Message Content to process content, attachments, embeds, and forwarded message snapshots for configured edit, delete, and bulk delete logs. Archivist does not request or use Presence. Guild Managers must configure these features only for legitimate audit, moderation, and safety purposes.

5. Prohibited Use

You must not use Archivist to:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, court order, or Discord policy.
  • Conduct unlawful surveillance, harassment, stalking, discrimination, doxxing, evasion, or unauthorized data collection.
  • Expose logs to people who should not have access to the logged data.
  • Sell, license, broker, advertise against, profile with, or otherwise exploit Discord API data outside Archivist's stated functionality.
  • Use Discord API data, message content, logs, or user information to train, tune, evaluate, or supply artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
  • Reverse engineer, abuse, overload, bypass, or interfere with Archivist or Discord systems.

6. Data and Privacy

Archivist's data handling is described in the Privacy Policy. Guild Managers are responsible for their own legal basis, notices, access controls, and handling of logs posted into their Discord Guild.

Ignoring a user deletes cached message and profile state controlled by Archivist for that user and scope and suppresses future profile/message logging. It does not remove existing logs posted to Discord. Moderation lifecycle and Guild object audit logs remain, including kicks, bans, timeouts, channel changes, role changes, and Guild changes.

Archivist does not use Discord API data, message content, logs, or user information to train, tune, evaluate, or supply artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

If a breach involving personal data affects Discord data, Archivist will notify Discord and affected Guild Managers without undue delay. Guild Managers must relay relevant notices to affected Guild Members. Archivist will notify affected users directly where required by law or where notice at Guild level is insufficient.

7. Removal and Enforcement

We may refuse support, disable features, remove Archivist from a Guild, revoke access, or report activity where we believe Archivist is being used unlawfully, abusively, or in violation of Discord policies or these Terms.

When Archivist leaves or is removed from a Guild, Guild settings controlled by Archivist, message and asset snapshots, channel snapshots, ignore preferences scoped to the Guild, invite and audit caches, routing references, webhook cache credentials, and Guild state held in memory are purged. Temporary Discord outages or Guild unavailability do not trigger this purge. Logs already posted to Discord remain under the control of the Guild and Discord.

8. Availability

Archivist is provided "as is" and "as available". We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, complete logs, or that Discord API data will always be available.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or similar damages arising from use of Archivist, inability to use Archivist, Discord outages or API changes, Guild misconfiguration, or unauthorized access to Discord log channels.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

10. Age and Eligibility

You may not use Archivist if you are barred from using Discord or Discord developer services, or if your use would violate the minimum age rules that apply to Discord in your country.

Archivist is not intended for people who cannot lawfully use Discord under applicable age or eligibility rules.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the website, the Archivist support Guild, or another appropriate Discord channel where practicable. The "Last updated" date identifies the current version. Continued use after an updated version takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, subject to mandatory rights under applicable law.

12. Contact

For privacy requests, abuse reports, security reports, Terms violations, or support, email [email protected] or use the Discord support Guild. For logs already posted inside a Discord Guild, contact that Guild's staff.
